Mobile Concrete Bar

2021 Decorative Concrete Council - Second Place: Furniture

The mobile concrete bar is a focal point of a versatile event space at a boutique hotel in Washington, DC. Originally conceived as a standard concrete bar built over a wooden bar frame, this piece took a turn when the client asked Hyde Concrete to make it a mobile unit to enable more configurations in their outdoor rooftop dining area.

We were able to achieve both the aesthetic and functional goals of the project through the utilization of a lightweight galvanized steel frame constructed of steel strut, coupled with ¾” thick GFRC panels and countertops. Included in the design were blackened steel accent details.

The artistry and flexibility of this practical piece of furniture benefits and awes the patrons of the event space at the rooftop venue. The bar is an ideal feature for the renovation and rebrand of the modern luxury lifestyle hotel that boasts breathtaking views of the iconic DC skyline.
